Halloween!

Another Halloween celebration has passed.. how time flies. One year ago, I was spending Halloween in Connecticut, carving a Jack Old Pumpkin and having a wild road trip.

This year, I'm spending it with my friends in Singapore. Amazingly, we've never thought of dressing up for Halloween until this year. It's generally harder to find costumes here in Singapore unless you wanna get them from the rental shop. There is also the option of improvising but nah.

Anyway, I managed to dig out an old costume to use. My friend dressed up as a sexy pirate and the others decided to go without any costumes. Me? I decided to go as a goth chick but as you can see in the picture, I don't think I look goth at all. Haha... It was fun, partying at MOS... there were people dressed as pussy cats, bunnies, doctors, policemen, vampires (with melting white make-up!!), zombies and such. Some of them tried to scare my friends and I even! Haha... That sure was fun. =) How did your Halloween go?

Birthday memories

I have neglected this cyberspace of mine for quite some time and for good reason (not that I'm going to go into details).

Things are going full-steam for me currently and I don't know whether that's a good or a bad thing. I have been neglecting certain things in the process but I hope to make up for it when things are less crazy.

Just celebrated Xiang's birthday yesterday at Corduroy & Finch (779 Bukit Timah Hill). While it's known for it's modern and funky decor as well as the gourmet take-out selection, I can't say much for its policies. We've bought a cake from "The Patissier" but C&F had certain restrictions about bringing outside food. They refused to let us eat the cake in the restaurant and it was even in their menu that if you wish to consume a cake bought outside, you will be charged S$3 per pax for eating your own cake, no less! That is truly ridiculous and needless to say, I was outraged and disappointed.

Anyway, so we hopped over to another shop and cut the cake there. Every single cake from "The Patissier" is yummilicious! I've tried the Napoleon, Passionfruit Meringue and now, the Strawberry Shortcake. I don't think I'll ever get sick of their cakes. Their recipe book just came out not too long ago and it's retailing at $48 if I'm not wrong. But really folks, I'd rather go over to the shop to purchase their cakes than to go through all that trouble to bake one because it is really difficult to make one! No kidding man.

The strawberry shortcake was soooo good that for the first time in my whole life, we devoured the whole birthday cake within minutes! hahahaha.... Pretty amazing isn't it? We cut the cake with a plastic knife (those you get from fast-food restaurants!!) and ate the cake right out of the cake box! Haha... That was really some birthday experience.
